Reporting directly to the General Counsel, you will act as the organisation's senior specialist for contentious matters across full range housing matters, providing pragmatic and commercially focused advice across a broad and varied caseload.

The legal team works closely with colleagues across the organisation and provides strategic, commercial and practical advice on a wide range of legal and regulatory matters.

Description

As In-House Litigation Solicitor, you will:

  • Lead on complex, sensitive and high-value litigation and dispute resolution matters.
  • Advise on housing and property litigation, contractual disputes, public law matters and other contentious issues.
  • Provide clear and commercially focused advice to senior stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Develop litigation strategies and advise on settlement, mediation and alternative dispute resolution.
  • Identify legal and reputational risks and help the organisation resolve disputes at an early stage.
  • Manage external solicitors, barristers and other professional advisers.
  • Ensure external legal expenditure is controlled and delivers value for money.
  • Support the General Counsel with significant, high-profile and strategically important matters.
  • Provide supervision, guidance and development to other members of the legal team.
  • Improve internal processes and help embed effective legal risk management across the organisation.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across housing, property, governance, compliance and operational teams.

Profile

The In-House Litigation Solicitor should be:

  • A qualified solicitor, barrister or legal executive with significant post-qualification experience in litigation and dispute resolution.
  • Strong experience managing complex and high-risk litigation.
  • Experience advising on housing, property, contractual, commercial or public law disputes.
  • The ability to provide clear, practical and commercially focused legal advice.
  • Confidence working directly with senior stakeholders and executive-level colleagues.
  • Strong negotiation, settlement and dispute resolution skills.
  • Experience managing external legal advisers and controlling legal expenditure.
  • The ability to supervise, support and develop other legal professionals.
  • Excellent judgement and the ability to balance legal, commercial and reputational considerations.
