We're working with an exciting and growing advertising business based in Birmingham City Centre that's looking for an Accounts Assistant to become an integral part of their close-knit finance team. This is the perfect opportunity for someone who enjoys getting involved across the whole finance function rather than being confined to one area. From Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable through to bank reconciliations, payment runs and process improvements, you'll have genuine variety in your day while playing an important role in the continued growth of the business. Better still, the person you're replacing has just moved on to a Finance Manager position after four successful years with the company, which says everything about the progression and development opportunities available here.

We're looking for someone who genuinely loves finance.
You'll already have experience across both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, but we're looking for more than just technical ability. We want someone who's bright, engaging and full of initiative. Someone who enjoys taking ownership, questions whether there's a better way of doing things and gets excited by improving systems and processes - someone happy to challenge the current way of working! What you will be doing

• Processing purchase invoices and maintaining supplier accounts
• Raising sales invoices and supporting the Accounts Receivable function
• Resolving supplier and customer queries
• Allocating cash and maintaining customer accounts
• Completing daily and monthly bank reconciliations
• Setting up new suppliers and maintaining supplier records
• Preparing and processing payment runs
• Supporting month-end activities
• Taking ownership of processes and identifying opportunities to improve the way the finance function operates
• Getting involved in wider finance projects as the business continues to grow

What we need from you

• Experience across both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
• Confident processing and raising invoices
• Experience with cash allocation, bank reconciliations and payment runs
• Strong communication skills and confidence resolving finance queries
• A proactive mindset with plenty of initiative
• Someone who enjoys improving processes and contributing ideas
• A genuine passion for working in a broad, all-round finance role
