Learning & Development Partner

Location: Home-based with regular travel and overnight stays across the region
Salary: £40,000 per annum, dependent on experience
Hours: 40 hours per week

Travel expenses are covered.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Learning & Development Partner to join a growing Learning & Development team supporting children's residential services.

This is an exciting opportunity for a learning professional with hands-on experience in children's residential care who is passionate about developing others, improving practice, and ensuring colleagues have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to deliver outstanding care.

Reporting to the Head of Learning & Development for Children's Services, you will play a key role in delivering engaging, compliant, and impactful training programmes to both new and existing staff across a national portfolio of services.

Key ResponsibilitiesTraining Delivery & Development
  • Design and deliver engaging training programmes that align with current legislation, best practice, and organisational standards.
  • Utilise your experience within children's residential services to provide practical, relevant, and impactful learning experiences.
  • Support the continuous review and enhancement of training materials and learning content.
Training Administration
  • Coordinate and facilitate training sessions to ensure a professional and positive learner experience.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to schedule, organise, and evaluate training delivery.
  • Gather and analyse learner feedback to continuously improve training effectiveness.
Record Management
  • Maintain accurate training records and learner data using the organisation's Learning Management System.
  • Ensure all training activities are appropriately documented and compliant with organisational requirements.
Compliance & Best Practice
  • Keep up to date with relevant legislation, regulatory updates, and sector developments.
  • Ensure all training content reflects current best practice within children's residential care.
Subject Matter Expertise
  • Act as a lead trainer in designated specialist subject areas.
  • Support operational teams by promoting safe, effective, and person-centred practice.
Health & Safety
  • Demonstrate and promote high standards of professional conduct, health and safety, and risk awareness in all training activities.

  • Ensure learning programmes reinforce organisational values and high standards of care.
Training Topics

Training delivery will include a range of mandatory and specialist subjects, including but not limited to:

  • Safeguarding Children
  • Positive Behaviour Support Approaches
  • Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE)
  • Missing from Home (MFH)
  • Emergency First Aid at Work
  • Medication Administration
  • Ligature Awareness
  • Induction and on boarding programmes
  • Additional mandatory and specialist training as required
About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Essential
  • Minimum 3 years experience working within children's residential services.
  • Strong understanding of current legislation, regulations, and best practice within children's social care.
  • Experience delivering training, coaching, mentoring, or facilitating learning programmes.
  • Knowledge of mandatory training requirements within residential childcare settings.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong IT, literacy, and numeracy skills.
  • Ability to travel regularly and stay away overnight when required.
  • Relevant qualifications related to the training subjects delivered.
Desirable
  • Recognised training, teaching, or assessor qualification (such as PTLLS, AET, TAQA, or equivalent).
  • Experience designing and developing learning materials.
  • Experience using Learning Management Systems (LMS).
