We are investing heavily in our surety proposition and are looking for an ambitious broker who wants to build a market-leading book of business, shape our future offering and grow into a senior role as the business expands.

The Opportunity

You will be responsible for originating new contractor, developer and intermediary relationships, structuring surety facilities, placing risks with leading UK markets and, where appropriate, utilising Exance's own underwriting capability. This is a growth role focused on winning business rather than simply servicing an inherited portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop new contractor, developer and intermediary relationships across the UK construction sector.
• Generate new opportunities through prospecting, networking, referrals and introducer relationships.
• Structure and place performance, advance payment, retention, bid and other surety bonds.
• Prepare financial submissions and credit cases for surety underwriters.
• Negotiate facilities, pricing, indemnities and commercial terms.
• Develop strategic relationships with Lloyd's, company market and specialist surety underwriters.
• Work alongside Exance underwriters to utilise in-house capacity where appropriate.
• Maintain accurate Salesforce pipeline management, forecasting and FCA-compliant documentation.
• Contribute ideas for new products, distribution and market development.

Who We’re Looking For

• Experience in surety broking, surety underwriting or a closely related commercial insurance discipline.
• Commercial mindset with a genuine appetite for winning new business.
• Ability to understand contractor financial information and present credit cases confidently.
• Strong relationship-building skills with clients and insurer markets.
• Self-starter who enjoys building something rather than maintaining the status quo.
• Commitment to FCA compliance and professional standards.

Advantageous Experience

• Existing contractor or broker relationships.
• Experience arranging facilities above £1m.
• Construction finance, trade credit or commercial underwriting background.
• Progress towards ACII or relevant CII qualifications.
