On behalf of Birmingham City Council, we are recruiting a Quality Project & Compliance Officer to join the Environmental Health team. This role offers the opportunity to support continuous improvement, quality assurance and project delivery within a service area that plays a vital role in safeguarding public health and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Your new role
This is a 12-month temporary contract with the potential for extension, based in Aston, Birmingham, with a hybrid working arrangement. Working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm, you will lead on the development, implementation and maintenance of quality, compliance and project management processes across the Environmental Health team. You will coordinate and oversee a range of projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within agreed objectives and in line with quality and safety standards.The role will involve conducting audits, inspections and risk assessments, monitoring compliance with legislation, regulations and best practice, and supporting managers to maintain high service standards. You will investigate incidents and non-compliance issues, implement corrective actions and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Working closely with colleagues across the council, you will prepare reports, monitor performance measures, support internal and external audits, maintain quality management systems and help promote a culture of quality, safety and operational excellence throughout the service.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful, you will have experience in quality assurance, compliance, project management or continuous improvement within a regulated environment. You will possess strong knowledge of quality management systems, audit processes, risk management and health and safety compliance, with the ability to interpret legislation and translate requirements into effective operational procedures.You will be confident managing projects from planning through to delivery, monitoring performance, identifying risks and driving improvements. Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders. Experience of ISO standards, corrective and preventive action processes, performance reporting and staff training would be highly advantageous. A proactive and solution-focused approach, coupled with a commitment to high-quality service delivery, will be key to your success.

What you'll get in return
In return, you will receive a competitive rate of £18.61 per hour PAYE plus holiday allowance, giving a total pay rate of £20.86 per hour.
