Our team is creating a vital 1.6-mile link road between the M54 and M6, complete with upgraded junctions and three new bridges. This direct motorway connection will reduce congestion and strengthen regional connectivity.
You will be working in the Infrastructure OU based in Birmingham in where we are responsible for bringing design, build and refurbishment excellence to complex civil engineering projects nationwide - combining technical expertise with a passion for creating lasting value for people and places.
We are currently looking for a Managing Quantity Surveyor who will lead commercial activities on M54 to M6 Link Scheme. This role will oversee cost management, subcontract administration, and commercial strategy across the project, ensuring value is maximised while maintaining compliance with contractual and client requirements.
As the Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will:
- Lead commercial management activities from start to final account.
- Manage and mentor Quantity Surveyors and Assistant Quantity Surveyors and graduates.
- Oversee subcontract procurement, administration, and performance management. Support procurement team through Cl 26 acceptance and internal governance requirements.
- Implement and manage change control processes, including variations and compensation events.
- Ensure robust cost forecasting and management, reporting, and financial control across projects.
- Prepare and review monthly cost/value reconciliation (CVR) and commercial reports.
We are looking for:
- Proven experience in a senior commercial role within highways or civil engineering.
- Strong track record in: Subcontract management, change management and variation control, cost forecasting, cost control and commercial reporting.
- Experience working on National Highways, local authority, or government-funded projects (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of NEC or similar forms of contract
- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills
- Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
