Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited

Your new company
Hays are working in partnership with a well-established national charity that provides vital support services to children, young people and families across Birmingham. Due to increased demand, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Early Help Support Worker to join a community-focused service delivering early intervention and practical support to families across a Birmingham district. This organisation is committed to helping families access the right support at the right time and works closely with local authorities, voluntary sector partners and community organisations to achieve positive outcomes.

Your new role
As an Early Help Support Worker, you will manage a caseload of families requiring early intervention support and work collaboratively with local agencies and community groups to coordinate tailored support packages. You will complete Early Help Assessments, undertake home visits, provide practical and emotional support, and signpost families to appropriate services. The role requires strong partnership working with children's services, schools, health professionals and voluntary sector organisations to ensure families receive timely and effective support. You will maintain accurate case records, contribute to service evaluations, and produce case studies evidencing the positive impact of interventions.

This is a hybrid position offering flexibility between home working, community-based work and office attendance.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A minimum NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent within social care, education, health or a related field.
  • Previous experience supporting children, young people and families within an Early Help, Family Support, Community Support or similar setting.
  • Experience completing assessments, managing caseloads and developing support plans.
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding, child development and Early Help intervention frameworks.
  • Excellent communication, partnership-building and engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively with families and multi-agency professionals.
  • Strong record-keeping, organisational and IT skills.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle, as travel across the locality is essential.

What you'll get in return

  • Competitive hourly rate of £19 per hour
  • 55p per mile mileage allowance
  • Hybrid working arrangements
  • Opportunity to make a genuine difference to vulnerable children and families
  • Valuable experience working within a highly respected community-based service
  • Dedicated support from your Hays consultant throughout your assignment
  • Potential for contract extension depending on service requirements
