Domestic Abuse Support Worker

A great opportunity for a Domestic Abuse Support Worker with experience supporting victims and survivors of domestic abuse on a one-to-one basis and in group work settings to join a specialist accommodation service, providing trauma-informed case management, safety planning, crisis intervention and practical housing-related support within refuge accommodation.

SALARY: £24,784 to £25,492 per annum + Benefits

LOCATION: Sandwell, West Midlands - You will be located and visible at a residential site supporting clients living within refuge accommodation. This position is NOT eligible for Hybrid working.

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9am-5pm (7.5 hours per day)

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Domestic Abuse Support Worker to join a specialist accommodation service supporting victims and survivors of domestic abuse living in safe refuge accommodation.

As a Domestic Abuse Support Worker you will manage a caseload, complete risk and needs assessments, develop support plans and deliver one-to-one and group interventions using a person-centred, trauma-informed approach.

The Domestic Abuse Support Worker will work closely with partner agencies, contribute to MARAC processes and help clients build safety, confidence, independence and long-term resilience after abuse.


DUTIES

Your duties as the Domestic Abuse Support Worker include:

  • Case Management: Manage a caseload of residents, ensuring each person receives appropriate support that reflects their individual needs, risks and circumstances
  • Risk and Needs Assessments: Carry out comprehensive assessments and develop support and risk management plans that promote safety, stability and independence
  • Trauma-Informed Support: Deliver high-quality one-to-one support that builds trust, encourages engagement and empowers clients to make informed choices
  • Group Intervention Work: Facilitate targeted domestic abuse intervention sessions that support recovery, resilience, confidence and positive outcomes
  • Safety Planning: Work with victims and survivors to identify risks, reduce harm and develop short, medium and longer-term safety plans
  • Housing Support: Support clients with licence agreements, occupancy responsibilities, housing benefit, welfare payments, rent arrears, property standards and accommodation safety
  • Multi-Agency Working: Work within a multi-agency framework, contribute to MARAC processes and liaise with partner organisations to coordinate effective support
  • Safeguarding: Work within safeguarding procedures for vulnerable adults, children and young people, escalating concerns appropriately and maintaining safe practice
  • Accommodation Management: Help maintain a safe, secure and supportive refuge environment, including health and safety checks, security procedures and shared accommodation standards
  • Records and Reporting: Maintain accurate, confidential case management records and contribute to monitoring, reporting and service review processes
  • Client Voice: Ensure clients’ experiences, choices and needs remain central to support planning, service delivery and service development


CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

  • Occupational Requirement under Schedule 9 (part 1) of the Equality Act 2010 applies. The post holder must be female
  • Previous experience working with victims and survivors of domestic abuse on a one-to-one basis and in group work settings
  • Experience managing a caseload and delivering case management, support planning, risk assessment and outcomes monitoring
  • Understanding of domestic abuse, trauma-informed practice, safeguarding and the barriers faced by victims and survivors
  • Able to provide practical and emotional support that promotes safety, independence, confidence and resilience
  • Experience working with vulnerable adults, children, families and partner agencies in a professional support setting
  • Able to work effectively within a multi-agency framework and contribute to coordinated support plans
  • Good communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to build trust and encourage engagement
  • Able to maintain accurate records, respect confidentiality and work in line with GDPR, policies and procedures
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle
