The Team & Focus of the Role

At Fisher German our people and our clients are at the heart of what we do. We have a unique opportunity to join our leading Commercial Property team in a role focusing on the financial management of a portfolio of clients and the properties held within those portfolios.

The role will report into our Head of Client Accounting Services and will provide support in the delivery of management information to our clients. The role will also be responsible for ensuring the wider team are reviewing, implementing and following best practice in all operations.

This is a full-time, permanent position based at our Birmingham office. We also operate a hybrid working policy.

Duties will include:

  • To support the team to ensure delivery of reporting and services to clients to agreed deadlines. To ensure that all reporting to client is accurate, timely and robust.
  • Ensure that client KPI’s are achieved.
  • Act as the lead when undertaking onboarding and offboarding of entities, acquisitions, and property sales.
  • Act as the lead when undertaking improvement projects with clients
  • Preparing monthly and quarterly financial reporting, bank reconciliations, supporting schedules and information and assisting with reviews where necessary.
  • Reviewing and preparing service charge year end reconciliations.
  • Reviewing and preparing budgets, forecasts and business plans. Analysing variances and providing commentary and explanations on those variances.
  • To act as a lead client contact and to attend and lead finance meetings with clients.
  • Liaising closely with other colleagues such as Property Managers in other departments and offices to achieve set goals.
  • Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are undertaken and ensure bank reconciliations, VAT returns, Accounts Payable and Accounts receivable reports, accruals, deferred income and prepayments are reviewed.
  • Advising clients on potential cashflow issues and cash management.
  • Ensure accurate and timely database updates by regularly reviewing tenancy schedules for example.
  • Continual review of processes and systems and implement procedures and controls to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Act as a coach and mentor to team and provide best practice advice.

The successful candidate will have...

  • Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) with up-to-date knowledge of accounting standards
  • Proven experience of leadership role in multi-disciplinary environment
  • Experience of working in a busy fast paced finance function.
  • Experience in preparing accounts to statutory level
  • Ability to manage and prioritise conflicting timelines and pressures
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to delegate duties
  • Advanced Microsoft office skills
