Food Specification Technologist (6-month FTC)

MacGregor Black are partnering with a leading food manufacturing business to recruit a Specification Technologist to join their Technical team on a 6-month FTC.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced specifications professional to play a key role in supporting product launches, ensuring compliance, and maintaining accurate product information across a diverse customer portfolio.
Working closely with Technical, NPD, Packaging and Customer teams, you will be responsible for the creation, review and approval of product specifications and artwork, ensuring all information meets retailer, customer and legislative requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain finished product specifications in line with customer requirements and launch critical paths.
- Review and approve packaging artwork to ensure compliance with food legislation and customer standards.
- Collaborate with Ingredients and Packaging Technologists to review and approve raw material and packaging specifications.
- Support NPD projects by ensuring specification and artwork requirements are completed within agreed timescales.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders including Technical, Operations and NPD teams.
- Build effective working relationships with external customers and retailers.
- Ensure all specifications and labelling comply with current food legislation and customer codes of practice.
- Manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience within a Specification Technologist or Specifications role in food manufacturing.
- Experience working with retailer specification systems.
- Strong knowledge of food labelling legislation and artwork approval processes.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- The ability to manage multiple deadlines within a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A food-related qualification and a full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Food Science, Food Technology or related Degree/HND.
- Food labelling qualification.
