Blue Diamond Recruitment is excited to work in partnership with an expanding multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy as they continue to provide specialist services across highways, infrastructure, transport planning, drainage and development projects throughout the UK. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated CAD Technician to join their expanding team.

The Role
As a CAD Technician, you will assist in the production and delivery of highway design schemes from initial feasibility through to construction. You will be involved in preparing technical drawings, calculations, specifications, and supporting documentation in accordance with local and national design standards.
Working closely with engineers, local authorities, utility providers and other stakeholders, you will play a key role in delivering successful infrastructure projects across both the public and private sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce highway design drawings and technical documentation using AutoCAD.
- Assist in the design and implementation of highway and infrastructure schemes.
- Prepare reports, schedules, cost estimates and supporting project documents.
- Liaise with utility companies, service providers, and local authorities.
- Support the technical approval process with relevant authorities.
- Ensure assigned tasks are completed within agreed budgets and timescales.
- Develop effective working relationships with clients, stakeholders and project teams.
- Assist senior team members with programme monitoring and financial reporting.
- Contribute to projects including highway improvements, new roads, streetscape enhancements and infrastructure developments.
Requirements
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience within a consultancy or engineering environment.
- Excellent proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Ability to interpret and communicate technical information effectively.
- Experience producing technical drawings and design documentation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage workload independently and meet project deadlines.
- Professional and collaborative approach when working with colleagues and clients.
- Full UK driving licence.
Technical Knowledge
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Experience with or understanding of ARCADY, PICADY, and LINSIG software packages.
