Ganymede
Senior Civil Engineer – Water & Flooding
Location: Manchester or Birmingham
Salary: Competitive + Excellent Benefits + Flexible Working
Want to work on projects that genuinely improve communities while giving you the freedom to develop your technical expertise?
If you're finding yourself stuck on repetitive schemes, limited in your influence, or looking for a broader mix of water and flood risk projects, this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.
You'll join a growing team delivering nationally significant infrastructure and environmental projects, helping to tackle some of the UK's biggest challenges around flood resilience, sustainable drainage and climate adaptation. More importantly, you'll have the opportunity to shape solutions, influence clients and develop the next generation of engineers.
The Opportunity
As a Senior Civil Engineer, you'll play a key role in the delivery of water and flooding projects across a diverse portfolio of public and private sector clients.
You'll take ownership of technical delivery whilst working closely with multidisciplinary teams across highways, rail, environmental and infrastructure projects. This means you'll gain exposure to a wider range of schemes and stakeholders than many traditional water engineering roles can offer.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the design and delivery of flood risk and drainage solutions
- Producing and reviewing Flood Risk Assessments, drainage strategies and hydraulic calculations
- Supporting projects through feasibility, outline and detailed design stages
- Coordinating with multidisciplinary design teams to ensure integrated project delivery
- Mentoring and developing junior engineers
- Building strong relationships with clients and stakeholders
- Contributing to technical excellence and continuous improvement across the team
What You'll Bring
We're keen to speak with engineers who have experience in water, drainage or flood risk projects and enjoy taking ownership of their work.
You'll likely have experience of:
- Civil engineering design within water, drainage or flood risk environments
- Flood Risk Assessments and drainage strategies
- Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS)
- Hydraulic modelling or drainage design software
- Working within multidisciplinary project teams
- Client-facing project delivery
Chartered status is desirable but not essential, and support is available for those working towards professional accreditation.
Why This Role?
This isn't simply another design role.
You'll be joining a business with a strong pipeline of long-term frameworks and nationally important projects, giving you the stability to build your career whilst continuing to develop technically.
You'll benefit from:
- A broad variety of projects across multiple sectors
- Genuine opportunities to progress your career
- Flexible and hybrid working arrangements
- Support towards professional development and chartership
- The chance to influence project outcomes rather than simply deliver designs
- A collaborative environment where your ideas are valued
