Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mobile Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer with a strong AC/HVAC bias to carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities across a variety of commercial properties.
Candidates should ideally be based within or close to the required locations and possess strong experience within commercial building services environments. While the role is primarily focused on AC/HVAC maintenance, applicants will also be expected to support general maintenance activities, reactive works, and occasional installation projects.
This position is ideal for a proactive and self-motivated engineer who can work independently, demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, and maintain high standards of client service in a customer-facing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out reactive maintenance and repair works across multiple commercial contracts.
- Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities on HVAC and AC equipment.
- Diagnose faults and complete repairs on air conditioning systems and associated equipment.
- Assess, identify, and order materials and equipment required for maintenance tasks.
- Ensure all works are completed in line with recognised industry standards.
- Participate in flexible working patterns, including out-of-hours emergency call-outs where required.
- Complete and update reactive and PPM tasks on the CAFM system.
- Maintain engineering standards to maximise plant performance and reliability.
- Adhere to company QA, health & safety, and site procedures at all times.
- Inspect building services and proactively respond to repairs and maintenance issues.
- Attend emergency breakdowns both during and outside standard working hours.
- Maintain company tools and equipment in safe working condition.
- Produce quotations for additional remedial works, including material costing and scope descriptions.
- Prepare detailed service reports and technical documentation.
- Update on-site logbooks and compliance records.
- Complete electrical testing and associated certification/documentation where required.
- Produce Method Statements and Risk Assessments for on-site activities.
- Support other trades and maintenance teams when required.
- Undertake additional duties as directed by management within the scope of the role.
AC/HVAC-Specific Duties
- Carry out repairs and maintenance on AC equipment including:
- Compressor replacements
- Fan motor replacements
- Condensate pump replacements
- Pipework repairs
- Pressure and leak testing
- PCB and electrical fault-finding
- Clearing blocked condensate lines
- Installation of new split systems
- Conduct PPM activities including:
- Annual servicing
- Filter and coil cleaning
- F-Gas leak inspections
- Tap temperature testing and water flushing
- Fan coil unit servicing
- Functional testing and equipment inspections
Experience & Qualifications Required
Essential Requirements
- Extensive experience in the service, installation, and maintenance of:
- Refrigeration systems
- Air conditioning systems
- VRV/VRF systems
- Split systems
- Strong fault-finding knowledge on AC control systems.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Knowledge of building fabric maintenance and basic reactive fabric repairs.
- Excellent understanding of Health & Safety regulations.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative.
- Strong communication and reporting skills.
- Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, and PDA devices.
- Flexible and adaptable approach to work and working hours.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 Certificate in Servicing and Maintaining Air-Conditioning and Heat Pump Systems
- NVQ Level 3 Certificate in Installing and Commissioning Air-Conditioning and Heat Pump Systems
- NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Servicing and Maintaining Refrigeration Systems
- NVQ Level 3 Certificate in Installing and Commissioning Refrigeration Systems
- C&G 2079 F-Gas and ODS Regulations – Category 4
- IPAF 3a & 3b
- PASMA
