Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Technical Designer role based in Birmingham. The Technical Designer will translate architectural concepts and client requirements into accurate technical drawings and design details for glazing systems, skylights, and lanterns. Responsibilities include preparing and updating CAD drawings, coordinating with architects, contractors, and internal teams to ensure design feasibility, and supporting the production and installation teams with clear technical documentation. The role involves reviewing specifications, checking measurements, and resolving design-related queries during project delivery. The Technical Designer will also contribute to continuous improvement of design processes, standards, and templates to support efficiency and quality.
Qualifications

Qualifications
- Strong Technical Design skills, including the ability to produce precise technical drawings and details for construction or architectural applications.
- Understanding of Architecture and building design principles, ideally with experience in glazing, façades, or related building envelope systems.
- Ability to interpret and adapt concepts related to Garment Construction, Fitting, and Pattern Making into accurate patterning, measuring, and detailing skills useful for technical layout and component design.
- Proficiency with CAD or similar design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or equivalent) and comfort working with digital drawings and models.
- Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Relevant technical or design qualification (e.g., degree, HND, or apprenticeship in architecture, architectural technology, engineering, or related field) or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of UK building regulations, standards, and construction practices is highly beneficial.
