Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) – Logistics Operations

Birmingham – Fully Onsite | 12-hour Shift Pattern

6 month initial contract very likely to extend

My client is looking for a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to support a highly automated logistics and warehouse environment, ensuring critical systems remain stable, reliable, and operational during live warehouse activity.

The Role

You’ll act as the onsite technical reliability lead, working closely with operations and control room teams to minimise disruption, manage incidents, and improve system stability across warehouse and logistics technology.

This is a proactive operational reliability role rather than traditional IT support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor the health and performance of warehouse, automation, and integration systems
  • Identify risks, failures, and performance issues before they impact operations
  • Lead technical incident response and coordinate recovery during live operational issues
  • Work alongside warehouse operations and control room teams during critical periods
  • Support change and release activities to reduce operational risk
  • Contribute to root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Help improve monitoring, processes, and long-term operational resilience

Experience Required

3–5+ years in Site Reliability / Operations / Infrastructure / Warehouse Technology support

  • Experience supporting complex operational or logistics environments
  • Strong incident management and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience working with integrated systems under time-critical conditions
  • Understanding of warehouse, automation, ERP, or transport systems
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes including Incident, Change, and Problem Management

Technical Environment

Experience with some of the following is beneficial:

  • Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
  • SAP integrations
  • Automation or material handling systems
  • Monitoring and observability tools
  • SAP Manhattan - Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) such as Manhattan, Blue Yonder, SAP EWM, Körber, or similar

About You

  • Calm and confident under pressure
  • Strong communicator with operational and technical teams
  • Proactive mindset focused on prevention and reliability
  • Able to prioritise effectively in fast-paced environments

Working Pattern

  • Fully onsite in Birmingham
  • Rotating 12-hour shifts (07:00–19:00)
  • Shift patterns include:
  • Wednesday–Saturday
  • Sunday–Wednesday
