Role Overview

We are currently recruiting for an experienced CNC Machinist to join a well-established precision engineering/manufacturing company. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting and operating CNC machines to produce high-quality components in line with engineering drawings and production requirements.

This is a hands-on machining role within a fast-paced environment where accuracy, efficiency, and quality are key.

Key Responsibilities

• Set and operate CNC milling and/or turning machines (Fanuc / Siemens / Heidenhain controls)
• Load and edit existing CNC programs where required
• Manufacture components to tight tolerances and quality standards
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
• Select correct tooling, fixtures, and materials for production runs
• Conduct in-process inspection using measuring equipment (micrometers, verniers, gauges, etc.)
• Carry out machine adjustments to maintain quality and reduce scrap
• Ensure machines are running efficiently and downtime is minimised
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment in line with HSE standards
• Work closely with programmers, setters, and production teams

Skills & Experience Required

• Previous experience as a CNC Machinist / CNC Operator / CNC Setter
• Strong ability to set and operate CNC milling and/or turning machines
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
• Good understanding of machining principles and tooling
• Experience working to tight tolerances
• Basic programming/editing experience is an advantage but not essential
• Background in engineering, manufacturing, or precision machining preferred

Desirable

• Experience with multi-axis CNC machines
• Familiarity with Fanuc, Mazak, or Siemens controls
• Experience in aerospace, automotive, or precision engineering environments
• Apprenticeship or engineering qualification (NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent)
