Fixed Term Contract - 6 Months

Salary: £55,000 - £60,000 + benefits

Location: Birmingham (Hybrid)

Our client, a leading provider of facilities services in the UK, is seeking an experienced Asset Classification Specialist to take ownership of asset data classification and standards across a complex estate.

This is a high‑impact, specialist role focused on ensuring asset data is consistently structured, governed, and aligned to recognised industry frameworks. The role plays a critical part in enabling compliance, audit readiness, and effective long‑term asset lifecycle management across a diverse portfolio.

Acting as the subject matter expert for asset classification and taxonomy, the postholder will work closely with engineering, facilities management, digital and compliance teams. You will embed best practice, drive data integrity at scale, and provide authoritative guidance on classification standards across multiple systems and environments.

Key responsibilities

  • Own and govern asset classification standards and taxonomy across CAFM, CMMS and BIM environments

  • Ensure asset data alignment with ISO 55001, ISO 19650, Uniclass 2015 and Golden Thread principles

  • Lead classification change control, ensuring updates are risk‑assessed, approved and fully auditable

  • Drive data consistency and interoperability across asset registers, surveys and digital models

  • Identify and resolve data quality issues, including duplication, misclassification and structural inconsistencies

  • Develop and maintain data standards, templates, data dictionaries and validation rules

  • Support audit, compliance and assurance activities, ensuring asset data remains audit‑ready

  • Provide insight and reporting on data quality, risks and performance, acting as a technical authority on best practice

Person specification

  • Strong experience working in asset data, BIM or information management environments

  • In‑depth knowledge of classification systems, particularly Uniclass 2015

  • Proven expertise in data governance frameworks, including ISO 55001, ISO 19650 and Golden Thread

  • Experience working across CAFM, CMMS, EAM or BIM platforms

  • Demonstrable ability to manage and improve complex, structured datasets

  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence across technical and operational teams

  • Highly analytical, methodical and detail‑driven approach

  • Confident acting as a subject matter expert and technical authority on asset classification standards
