We are working with a well-established, family run scrap metal recycling business that is looking to appoint an experienced Scrap Metal Buyer to join their growing team.

This is a field based role, spending the majority of the week out on the road developing and managing relationships, with one day per week based in the Birmingham office.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in buying non-ferrous metals, particularly aluminium, although candidates with a solid ferrous background and transferable buying experience will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities

• Source and purchase nonferrous scrap metal, with a strong focus on aluminium
• Develop and maintain relationships with customers
• Identify and secure new opportunities
• Negotiate pricing and maximise margin on purchased material
• Build long term supply relationships across the region
• Maintain accurate records of purchases and supplier activity
• Work closely with the internal team to ensure smooth material flow

Key Requirements

• Proven experience in scrap metal buying (non-ferrous preferred)
• Strong understanding of aluminium grades and pricing (desirable)
• Ferrous buying experience considered if transferable
• Commercially minded with strong negotiation skills
• Self-motivated and comfortable working independently on the road
• Strong relationship-building ability
• Full UK driving licence

Package Details

• Salary negotiable depending on level of experience
• Company Car
• 23 days annual leave + Bank Holiday
