As part of the wider Dalkia UK Group, Dalkia Facilities is a c.£300m facilities management business delivering services across a diverse portfolio of customer contracts and operational environments.
We are looking for an experienced and technically strong Financial Controller to join Dalkia Facilities and play a key role in maintaining financial control, reporting integrity and robust governance across a complex and growing business.
Reporting to Dalkia Facilities Finance Director, this role sits at the centre of the Facilities finance function with responsibility for financial control, central finance activities and ensuring the business maintains a strong and accurate accounting position.
This is a hands-on leadership role where attention to detail, technical judgement and the confidence to challenge are essential. You will play a key role in safeguarding the financial position of the business, providing technical accounting judgement to ensure financial activities are recorded and reported appropriately, maintaining the integrity of the business's financial position.
The role
Working closely with senior stakeholders including the Dalkia Facilities Executive Board, Procurement and Dalkia UK Group Finance teams, you will lead financial control activities and act as a key point of expertise across accounting and reporting matters for Facilities.
Alongside ownership of core financial control responsibilities, you will lead central finance activities including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Treasury, supported by a Financial Accountant.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes
- Ensuring integrity and accuracy across all financial reporting
- Ownership of balance sheet control, reconciliation and review processes
- Reviewing accounting treatment and ensuring compliance with applicable standards and Group requirements
- Overseeing revenue recognition, accruals, prepayments, journals and fixed asset accounting
- Managing annual statutory reporting requirements and year-end audit activity
- Delivering reporting submissions in line with Dalkia UK Group reporting requirements
- Acting as a key interface with Dalkia UK Group Finance teams
- Leading Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Treasury functions
- Driving strong cash management and working capital disciplines
- Leading annual budgeting and forecasting processes, including quarterly reforecast cycles
- Producing reporting, commentary and insight for senior stakeholders and Board reporting
- Managing and developing the central finance team
- Identifying opportunities to strengthen controls, improve processes and enhance reporting
You’ll work closely with Finance Business Partnering teams and wider stakeholders across the business, while maintaining clear ownership of financial control and accounting governance.
Requirements
You’ll be a technically strong and hands-on finance leader who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and thrives on variety and challenge.
You’ll bring:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification
- Significant post-qualification experience
- Strong Financial Controller or senior financial control experience
- Extensive experience of financial reporting, balance sheet ownership and accounting governance
- Experience managing statutory reporting and audit processes
- Experience operating within wider Group reporting structures
- Experience leading central finance functions including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and/or Treasury
- Strong technical accounting capability and confidence challenging accounting treatment where needed
- Experience operating within complex or multi-site organisations
- Strong leadership capability with experience developing finance teams
- Systems experience including ERP and planning tools such as Microsoft Business Central and Anaplan
Facilities management or broader contract-led services experience would be advantageous.
