Information About The Role
We’re looking for enthusiastic, flexible and proactive Constables to join us as Borders Officers at the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit (WMCTU). Based primarily at Birmingham International Airport, but with a requirement to occasionally deploy to other sites across the region, you’ll work shifts consisting of three earlies (7am-3pm), three lates (2pm-11pm) and three rest days.
We offer extensive and unique training and you’ll undergo a personalised mentoring period which will support your development into the role.

Information About The Role

Responsibilities
- Examining persons and freight travelling through regional airports using various police powers.
- Completing proactive and re-active examinations in accordance with local and national priorities and policies, responding to local, regional and national intelligence requirements and gaps.
- Preparing concise intelligence reports and demonstrating a clear understanding of protocols in accordance with the policies and procedures relating to the handling and dissemination of sensitive intelligence.
- Evaluating and developing intelligence obtained in order to maximise its value.
- Submitting high level intelligence within agreed timescales, demonstrating flexibility where required.
- Developing and maintaining knowledge of local, regional, national and international current affairs and maintaining an understanding of the potential impact upon the diverse communities within the UK.
- Actively working in partnership with local communities and partners to understand the diverse needs of the travelling public in order to maximise the flow of information and intelligence.
