Project Manager – Rail Systems Birmingham | £65-77K + benefits
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager (Rail Systems) to lead the successful delivery of complex rail infrastructure projects. This is a unique opportunity to join a high-profile programme delivering cutting-edge technology and modernising UK rail systems. Contracts have recently been awarded for early design, so this is a great time to join a growing team at the design and planning stage of this prestigious project.
As a key member of the team, you will oversee end-to-end project delivery from design to commissioning, ensuring performance meets time, budget, scope, and quality objectives. You will support senior leadership while coordinating directly with contractors, supply chain partners, and internal functions to ensure seamless integration across multiple packages.
You will be responsible for planning and managing the execution of rail systems contracts, including oversight of project milestones, risk mitigation, change control, and reporting. The role requires active management of NEC3 contracts and collaborative interface with key engineering, commercial, and delivery stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities Manage contract delivery through planning, design, installation, testing, and commissioning Lead contractor performance and ensure contractual obligations are met Monitor project risks, scope changes, and cost implications Support cross-functional coordination to ensure integration with adjacent works
About You Proven experience managing large-scale, complex infrastructure projects Strong understanding of project lifecycle and NEC3 contract administration Knowledge of rail systems and / or telecommunications desirable APM-level project management knowledge or equivalent Excellent problem-solving, stakeholder engagement, and leadership skills
