We are seeking a Civil Engineer looking for the next stage of their career. If you have gained a solid foundation post graduation we have an opportunity for you to join our Civil engineering team in our Birmingham South office based on Blythe Park, Solihull. In this role you will work closely alongside other disciplines in the business (structural, architectural, geo-environmental amongst others) you will benefit from working on prestigious projects, covering a wide range of sectors including infrastructure, automotive, commercial and Formula 1.
You will gain on the job learning experiences whilst working on prestigious projects, and be responsible for assisting in the provision of a wide range of civil engineering services under the direction of a Team Manager.
Role And Responsibilities
To be successful applicant you will Ideally have a MEng (Hons) Degree (or BEng (Hons)) in Civil Engineering at grade 2:1 or above and have gained industry experience which you will be able to evidence at interview.
You Will Also Have An Understanding/awareness Of
You will gain on the job learning experiences whilst working on prestigious projects, and be responsible for assisting in the provision of a wide range of civil engineering services under the direction of a Team Manager.
Role And Responsibilities
- Building relationships with the Ridge teams/ colleagues and with Clients.
- Ability to work independently, under the supervision of a Senior Engineer and Team Manager.
- Assisting with the delivery of projects.
- Producing flood risk assessments (FRA’s) and Drainage Strategies.
- Developing highways, earthworks, external works, and drainage designs.
- Working efficiently to meet project deadlines, demonstrating ability to work under pressure.
- Preparing design calculations, drawings, specifications, reports, and other project documentation under the supervision of a Senior Engineer and Team Manager.
- Participating in the resolution of technical issues and applying problem solving skills on projects.

You Will Also Have An Understanding/awareness Of
- Experience using both AutoCAD and Civils 3D software packages.
- Experience and working knowledge of drainage design software (MicroDrainage or InfoDrainage) would be desirable.
- Experience of highway and drainage section agreements (38, 278 and 104)
- Flood risk assessments and sustainable drainage systems
- Demonstrate the desire and drive to becoming Chartered - which will be fully supported by the company
- Collaborative team player who is also able to work with minimal supervision and use own initiative.
- Excellent communication skills, in both written and spoken English.
- Hold a current UK driving licence.
