Job Specification

U Value Insulation is experiencing significant growth and is now seeking an experienced and highly motivated Operations Manager to join our dynamic team.

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of our fleet of HGV vehicles, maintaining compliance with industry standards, supporting overall site operations, and overseeing the servicing and LOLER inspections for lorry-mounted and counterbalance forklift trucks.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

Fleet Compliance & Management

  • Overseeing compliance for a fleet of HGV vehicles via an online platform
  • Monitoring defects and sourcing cost-effective solutions
  • Scheduling and managing HGV PMI’s (Preventive Maintenance Inspections) at agreed intervals
  • Ensuring tachograph calibration and compliance with regulations
  • Managing HGV MOT processes
  • Tachograph vehicle weekly downloads
  • Driver Card daily download
  • Analysing tachograph data and identifying driver infringements, reviewing, and filling
  • Coaching and educating drivers on compliance, best practices, and legal requirements
  • Managing day-to-day driver operations, including route planning and optimisation using an online platform

Health & Safety (H&S) Implementation

  • Assisting with the implementation of site Health & Safety protocols
  • Conducting daily, weekly, and monthly safety evaluations to ensure a "Safety First" culture
  • Collaborating with the fleet manager to improve safety audits and transport-related compliance

Financial Management & Budgeting

  • Managing the external transport budget within agreed parameters based on sales percentage
  • Supporting the sales team by handling Proof of Deliveries (PODs)
  • Ensuring cost-effective and timely shipping and receipting of stock
  • Managing daily invoicing processes

Warehouse & Stock Management

  • Working closely with the warehouse team to maintain accurate stock levels
  • Assisting with amendments to pick notes and overseeing daily cycle counting
  • Supporting the opening and closing of branch operations in a shared responsibility

Servicing & LOLER Inspections

  • Overseeing the servicing and maintenance of Lorry Mounted and Counterbalance Forklift Trucks
  • Ensuring all lifting equipment undergoes regular servicing and LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations) Inspections as per legal requirements
  • Coordinating with third-party service providers and in-house teams to ensure timely inspections and compliance
  • Managing records for LOLER inspections and ensuring compliance with all safety and operational standards
