Estimator – HS2 Project (Midlands)Location: Midlands (site and office-based)Salary: (negotiable based on experience)Sector: Civil Engineering / Major Infrastructure
A leading Tier 1 contractor delivering critical works on the HS2 programme is seeking an experienced Estimator to support complex infrastructure packages across the Midlands region.
This is a long-term opportunity to join one of the UK’s flagship infrastructure projects, playing a key role in cost planning and tendering for heavy civils, concrete structures, and rail-related works.
Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and review accurate cost estimates for a range of civil engineering and structural works.

Liaise with procurement, engineering, and planning teams to compile competitive bids and cost plans.

Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations, ensuring best value and compliance with project requirements.

Identify value engineering opportunities and assess cost risks.

Support pre-contract negotiations and handover to delivery teams.
Requirements:
-
Proven experience as an Estimator within civil engineering or major infrastructure.

Strong understanding of NEC contracts and cost breakdown structures.

Previous experience working on rail, highways, or large public sector frameworks.

Proficient in estimation software (e.g., Candy, Causeway, or similar).

Excellent commercial acumen and stakeholder communication skills.
Desirable:

Experience working on HS2, National Highways, or other government-led infrastructure schemes.

Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related discipline.
