What you'll be doing


Join our award-winning, nationally established Employment practice at an exciting time of growth and expansion. We're seeking a talented Associate to be based in either our dynamic Birmingham or Manchester offices, where you'll play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional legal services to our expanding client base.


This is a career-defining opportunity for an ambitious Employment solicitor to make their mark within a market-leading team. As an Associate, you'll take ownership of diverse Employment law matters of varying complexity and scale, whilst developing your expertise across fee-earning, client relationship management and business development.


Principal responsibilities


  • Delivering strategic employment advice to high-profile clients
  • Drafting sophisticated employment contracts, policies, and disciplinary and grievance procedures
  • Managing and conducting Employment Tribunal claims from inception to resolution
  • Contributing to complex transactional employment matters
  • Handling data subject access requests with precision and compliance focus
  • Leading marketing initiatives including authoring thought leadership articles, presenting at seminars and client events, and driving networking opportunities
  • Supporting business development activities to enhance our market presence and secure new opportunities
  • Developing deep sector knowledge and maintaining cutting-edge awareness of legal developments
  • Cultivating and nurturing long-term client relationships
  • Maintaining excellence in file management in accordance with Lexcel and departmental standards
  • Actively engaging in comprehensive firm-wide and departmental training programmes


What you will need

  • Qualified solicitor with 1-3 years' PQE in employment law, ideally with commercial and/or public sector client exposure
  • Outstanding academic credentials demonstrating intellectual rigour
  • Exceptional written communication skills and confident verbal presentation abilities
  • Genuine passion for employment law and its evolving landscape
  • Sharp commercial awareness and client-centric mindset
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities whilst consistently meeting deadlines
  • Excellent technical legal skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Natural flair for clear, persuasive legal drafting (highly desirable)
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with enthusiasm for business development opportunities

  • Self-motivated individual with strong initiative and problem-solving capabilities
