Due to continued growth and additional resource requirements, we are looking to recruit an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our client’s commercial team. This is a key role within a high-profile infrastructure programme, based out of Birmingham.
You will play a vital part in developing and implementing commercial strategies, supporting the project delivery team, and ensuring commercial integrity across your assigned project.
Purpose of the Role
Develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including client organisations and the BBV JV.
Lead and manage commercial strategies, risk management, and contract delivery.
Support and guide project teams on contractual matters, insurance, and legal compliance.
Protect and enhance the commercial interests of the JV through effective contract and change management.
- Oversee and contribute to team development, workload planning, and commercial performance.
Manage commercial responsibilities for your project under the direction of the Commercial Lead.
Lead commercial planning, forecasting, and reporting across key project areas.
Maximise cash flow through valuations, invoicing, and payment management.
Ensure timely preparation and agreement of final accounts, claims, and variations.
Implement strong change control processes and contractual governance.
Contribute to strategic planning and identify future resource needs.
Provide commercial support during tendering and project start-up phases.
Understand and communicate the commercial impact of technical changes.
Participate in executive reporting and present to senior stakeholders.
Monitor project costs, resources, and labour schedules to drive efficiency.
Use detailed financial reporting and forecasting tools (e.g., Bottom-Up Forecasting).
Identify and mitigate project risks early, maintaining active risk and opportunity registers.
Conduct value engineering and advise on cost-saving opportunities.
Guide procurement strategy and oversee subcontractor management.
Ensure compliance with our clients procurement policies and maintain robust documentation.
Manage subcontractor instructions, notices, payments, and final accounts.
Ensure accurate quantification of materials, work schedules, and site records.
Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or similar discipline (or equivalent experience).
Strong experience working under the NEC form of contract (essential).
Proven track record in large-scale civil engineering, infrastructure, or rail projects.
Demonstrated ability to manage complex commercial activities across large teams.
Excellent stakeholder communication and negotiation skills.
Proficient in cost reporting, forecasting, change control, and subcontract management.
Strong understanding of contract law, insurance issues, and project governance
