Context
As a Principal Transport Planner you will work with the Sector Director to develop and grow the Development Planning team and opportunities across the business as well as leading on client liaison with private and public sector DP clients. This is an exciting time to join us, we have a variety of active projects and require a new colleague to help us develop our existing pipeline of opportunities. This role is based from our Birmingham office, with scope for hybrid working.

Missions/Main Duties
Required
The successful candidate will support the delivery of a wide range of multi-disciplinary development planning projects for public and private sector clients across the region. It is essential the candidate has the has knowledge of the DP market and ability to project manage and technically lead on schemes. The candidate will be required to:
- Lead technical delivery of development planning and masterplanning projects;
- Act as Project Manager for DP projects across the business,
- Project manage schemes with control over project budgets;
- Manage staff in the preparation Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, EIA’s and outline and preliminary design projects.
- Ensure work produced is technically accurate and delivered in accordance with the appropriate standards;
- Manage the production of scheme deliverables;
- Liaise with Director in Birmingham office and the wider DP team to identify and secure opportunities;
- Liaise with resource manager to plan and manage your work and the work of staff to meet project needs; and
- Prepare fee proposal for agreement with client.
- MSc Transport Planning & Engineering (Preferred)
- Desirable to be a Chartered Engineer and a member of an appropriate recognised body.
- Track record of working with private and public sector clients on Development Planning/Management projects
- Ability to develop and secure DP opportunities across the business
- Ability to lead and mentor staff and develop the team’s skills.
- Ability to develop and agree scopes and manage the internal technical supply chain, including budgets, programme and quality of deliverables within set time frame.
- Ability to contribute and prepare bids and tenders.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work within a team environment
