We are thrilled to announce an opportunity for a Principal Structural Engineer to join our vibrant and inclusive Building Structures team. Our team is engaged in a wide range of challenging and innovative projects, including airports, advanced technology facilities, residential refurbishments, rail, and energy sectors, offering avenues for professional growth and development both locally and globally.
As a Principal Structural Engineer, you will provide design leadership and integrate disciplines within projects delivered by our Cities & Places business unit. Your role will involve managing projects and guiding/mentoring less experienced structural engineers to produce designs and associated deliverables for projects. This position offers a client-facing opportunity, ensuring that Jacobs maintains the highest technical standards, levels of service, and quality.

- Play a crucial role in delivering technical solutions, balancing commercial, technical, and mentoring responsibilities.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality and technically excellent solutions, facilitating seamless information sharing with other discipline teams.
- Represent Jacobs in liaising with clients, architects, and other design team members.
Here's what you'll need

- A good engineering degree in Civil, and/or Structural Engineering, or equivalent.
- A Chartered Engineer, with membership of a relevant professional body.
- Relevant knowledge and experience in the design and specification of building structures to relevant standards and regulations.
- Familiarity with structural analysis and design software (such as Robot, ETABs, Safe).
- Ability to undertake structural inspections and report on material and construction defects.
- Experience and understanding of multi-disciplinary design processes.
- Understanding of Information Management and Digital Delivery with the ability to work and deliver solutions within the 3D environment.
- Ability to consider and incorporate sustainable design solutions within design.
- Ability to develop designs to eliminate health and safety risks within the design.
- Ability to lead and mentor less experienced engineers within a project.
- Ability to liaise directly with clients, architects, and other design team members.
- Ability to aid the commercial success of projects, including delivery within programme and budget, and effective change control management.
