If successful, you’ll move into a formal teacher training pathway within the school, leading to Qualified Teacher Status. The Candidate You’ve got a degree in mathematics or a related subject and are serious about a long-term career in education. You’re confident with GCSE and A-Level content and have the communication skills to explain it clearly to young learners. Previous experience working with pupils—whether tutoring, mentoring, or volunteering—is highly beneficial. You’ll need to be enthusiastic, resilient, and ready to learn on the job.
