Planning Engineer (Internal Opening) - #1743745

Location: Birmingham, United Kingdom Travel Required: No STS Aviation Services is hiring a Planning Engineer to join our aircraft maintenance facility in Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity for someone eager to grow within a planning function or expand their expertise across the aerospace industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the planning team by maintaining and developing systems and processes that ensure the efficient delivery of aircraft modification and maintenance tasks
• Coordinate activities to evaluate and resolve planning-related issues during aircraft build
• Maintain regulatory planning records and review production schedules, work orders, and documentation to ensure timely delivery of work packages
• Ensure MRP Part 145 regulatory planning documentation is maintained, including pre-input work packages, material ordering, record retention, and manpower planning
• Issue weekly maintenance tasks to the production team in a timely manner
• Support the implementation and maintenance of the scheduling management system
• Analyse schedule deviations and provide regular drumbeat updates at work order level
• Maintain Tier 2 production and planning boards aligned with performance metrics
• Work collaboratively with Production Leads, Certifying Engineers, and Production Managers to meet completion deadlines and resolve held or delayed work orders
• Document and improve planning processes as needed
• Liaise with relevant teams to resolve planning issues efficiently and keep the Lead Planning Engineer or Planning Manager informed
• Monitor planning issues such as shortages and tooling conflicts, escalating appropriately
• Collate and assess production KPIs to identify efficiency improvements
• Track customer engineering changes and ensure proper communication, including costing of out-of-scope requests
• Use internal systems to raise occurrence reports and manage technical queries
• Attend and contribute to weekly planning meetings
  
  

Skills And Experience

• GCSEs in English and Mathematics at grade C or above (or equivalent)
• Qualification or relevant experience in engineering preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Highly organised with the ability to multitask, prioritise, and manage timelines
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
• Must be eligible to obtain SC security clearance
• Persuasive communicator with the ability to influence opinions
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including VBA and Power Queries
• Knowledge of MAA Part 145 Organisations desirable
• Experience with scheduling tools required; familiarity with Boeing Aurora and GoldEsp preferred
