Regional Skills Senior Advisor
Location: Hybrid – Birmingham, UK (with travel as required)
Salary: £38,067 per annum
Contract: Full-time, Fixed-Term until March 2026
Role Overview
Our client, a public body dedicated to preserving the historic environment, is seeking a Regional Skills Senior Advisor to support strategic engagement on heritage skills at the regional level. With increasing devolved control over skills budgets, this role will explore and propose ways to influence regional strategies to meet specialist skills needs across the heritage sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead regional engagement on the heritage skills agenda, with a focus on collaboration with Combined and Strategic Authorities.
- Develop practical proposals for enhancing Historic Environment-related skills in response to local and regional policy frameworks.
- Contribute to the design and delivery of collaborative projects aimed at strengthening heritage construction and retrofit skills.
- Use data and evidence effectively to support policy influence and programme design.
- Build and sustain productive partnerships across local government, education, training bodies, and industry stakeholders.
- Represent the organisation in regional forums, advocating for skills development in the historic environment sector.
Candidate Profile
Essential:
- Proven experience working with local government or delivering collaborative initiatives within the heritage construction or retrofit industries.
- Strong understanding of UK skills policy, particularly as it pertains to construction and heritage skills.
- Ability to collect, analyse and apply data to influence policy and strategy decisions.
- Skilled collaborator, able to engage diverse partners to build consensus and deliver shared outcomes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strategic mindset.
