Location: Birmingham (SCC operate hybrid working, which comprises of a mix of office and home working)

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary Package: £50,000 - £55,000 plus large company benefits, a broad flexible benefits scheme, and 2 paid-for volunteering days a year

Hours: 9.00 am – 5.30 pm Monday – Friday

Role Purpose

As a Talent Acquisition Business Partner, you will have exceptional stakeholder management, influencing and collaboration skills. You’ll be passionate about providing an exemplary candidate, hiring manager and recruiter experience, know exactly how and where to locate, engage, and direct source the best talent in the market, be passionate about ED&I and deliver a resourcing service to our business that truly lives and breathes our values.

You’ll be accountable for the end-to-end resourcing and recruitment process – from assisting with writing Job Descriptions to direct sourcing and market mapping to understand the talent landscape, you’ll develop fit for purpose assessment and selection methods and build talent pipelines to support succession planning. As an integral part of our team, you’ll help us to achieve quality, time, cost, sourcing mix and candidate KPIs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sourcing Excellence – Strive to directly source candidates using a range of creative practices. Utilise the ATS candidate database as a source to engage registered candidates and online tools to attract the passive candidate, developing a rich pipeline of potential talent.
  • 'Tier' the approach to direct sourcing vs. soliciting 3rd party support as appropriate, considering urgency, complexity, and cost effectiveness. Form a working relationship with 3rd party agencies to source industry and competitor data to form part of stakeholder reporting
  • Administrative Excellence - Ensure that for all resourcing candidates, roles and candidates are effectively logged and tracked on the ATS, that required documentation is produced and processed and that both candidates and hiring managers are effectively briefed and fed back to throughout the process. To play a key role in reviewing current processes for best practice and system automation, and any necessary supporting research.
  • Stakeholder Management - Working alongside our business leaders to enforce effective recruitment approaches and tactics whilst setting realistic expectations and deadlines for the recruitment and hiring process. Ensure that for every hire (or cluster of hires) there is a robust up-front planning process which captures the need, the sourcing plan, the selection approach, clarifies roles and decision-makers, blocks time in diaries and points the hiring manager to useful sources of guidance. Provides stakeholders with key metric and industry data via regular reporting and updates, demonstrating you are a knowledgeable, trusted advisor.
  • Workforce Planning - Wherever possible to use historical and qualitative data to forecast demand and prioritise resourcing activity accordingly.
  • Operational Delivery - Accountable for delivery against KPIs of quality, time, cost, sourcing mix and candidate/line manager experience etc, contributing towards team reporting requirements
  • Continued Development of Hiring Capability – Take responsibility for reviewing and deploying (in conjunction with HO Talent) hiring manager training as and when appropriate, to build their knowledge and capability in effectively managing their role in the selection process and promoting SCC as a great place to work.
  • Projects - This role will also support / lead on projects linked to continuous improvement initiatives and integration of systems, taking an arbitrage approach to working with colleagues in other locations to provide an efficient, best practice service to all stakeholders.
  • Interviewing - Pre-screen potential candidates for the roles using phone and video interviews, followed by evaluating applicants and sharing the most appropriate with the hiring manager for their review.
  • Arrange, collaborate, and where appropriate interview with hiring manager having previously consulted on appropriate questions drawing reference to competency, behaviour, and values.
  • Branding & Attraction Strategies – Hold an online presence representing SCC as a great place to work, sharing vacancies, good new stories etc. in accordance with people team and wider brand guidelines
  • Offshoring – Coach colleagues offshore in SCC’s processes and standards, for them to support the candidate experience and talent acquisition process. Monitor the capacity of the offshore team and identify any areas for improvement or challenge.

Skills And Experience

  • Significant experience of recruiting across a range of functions at all levels in an IT environment, including interim/apprenticeship colleagues, using a range of sources including social media talent attraction (LinkedIn etc.).
  • A demonstrable ability to add value and influence hiring managers to ensure appropriate JD’s, recruitment strategies, best practice, process, and policy adherence.
  • Proven experience of, and commitment to, ensuring an excellent candidate experience.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach, able to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment, and effectively manage a busy workload and conflicting priorities.
  • A demonstrable track record of sourcing, attracting, and recruiting staff across different geographies and ‘hard to find’ roles.
  • Quality focussed, with strong attention to detail, with a collaborative and solution orientated approach.
  • Security clearance, or the ability to apply will be required for this role.
