Established Tour Operator, who sell to trade through their experienced travel consultants as well as offering a bespoke online booking tools, is seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant to join their team in Birmingham on a part-time basis (3 days per week, 0900-1800). The starting salary is £16k per annum (for the three days) plus benefits, and the role is based in Birmingham (near Birmingham Airport).


JOB DESCRIPTION:


The main purpose of the role is to support the business with a variety of day-to-day financial operations within the offline team. This includes Accounts Payable, liaising with suppliers, and reviewing bookings to ensure they are ready for payment.



  1. Prioritise supplier statements & invoices for payment (cost of sales).

  2. Check and review bookings to ensure funds have been collected and folders prepared correctly.

  3. Liaise with suppliers and internal staff to resolve and monitor issues.

  4. Challenge suppliers on incorrect or outstanding payments or refunds.

  5. Work with the reservations/offline team to ensure payment requests are correct and paid on time.

  6. Prepare payment support documents for the finance team, ensuring accuracy of booking references, values, and bank details.

  7. Ensure commercial payments are correct and made to agents.

  8. Support the offline team as needed.

  9. Assist the credit controller when required.


EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:



  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Strong IT skills, including Dolphin and Excel spreadsheets.

  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise tasks.

  • Keen attention to detail.

  • Effective time management skills.

  • Knowledge of internal controls and audits.


THE PACKAGE:


The starting salary is up to £35k per annum, dependent on experience, plus benefits to be discussed at interview. This is a well-established but still growing ambitious travel company offering opportunities for career development. The role is ideally based in Birmingham offices (potentially hybrid), or alternatively in London, with hybrid options available if nearer the London office.
