Teleste Network Services is actively seeking an experienced telecoms field engineer I&C (transmission) to sit within the Optical Design & Delivery team within the Professional Services Business Unit. This is a rolling contract position.
Our field engineers are required to undertake the installation and commissioning of new network elements, installation of cards, passive components and associated cabling. Deployment is on a national basis with this role focused primarily in the North of England and may require some out of hours shifts for migration activities.
The role holder will require BPSS / NPPV level 3 Security Clearance and Valid UK driving licence. Candidates must be able to be flexible on travel and work locations as the project is national.

Must have working knowledge of Infinera, Ciena and ECI equipment.

The right candidate will display the following key attributes:
- Undertake site surveys and highlight requirements for any new network build to facilitate the design and integration of new network elements cards, passive components and associated cabling for completion of end to end circuits.
- Provide expertise and guidance for stand-alone network element builds, new circuit provision, link testing, ring testing and integration into network management platforms via DCN and DCC.
- Provide expertise and guidance for line up and balancing of SDH,XWDM systems.
- Self-audit all work activities and ensure all procedures are carried out in accordance with the associated site operational documentation and commissioning test specifications.
- Submit all operational documentation and commissioning test specifications within the customer SLA for review.
- Support the client with their field based operational activities relating to the installation and commissioning of new active and passive XWDM transmission equipment.
- Liaise with Customer Network Operations Centres (NOC) follow instructions and provide on-site technical support.
- Work without supervision and collaboratively with colleagues.
- Build and develop strong working relationships both internally and externally.
- Ensure all site activities are completed successfully whilst maintaining a high standard of quality, service and customer focus.
- Provide a key point of contact for client engagement
- Attend regular conference calls and meetings with both internal teams and clients
- Manage amendments and change requests to planned information using a pragmatic and flexible approach Promptly and professionally resolve issues, queries and disputes, escalating as appropriate and where required
- Provide coaching and development support to the Engineering teams
- Provide technical assistance to the team across all network disciplines
- Adhere to internal and external, regulatory, operational and compliance procedures
- Experience of working in Virgin Media Technical sites / Head End and local satellite locations is essential
- Be fully aware of all security procedures, expectations and H&S, when working in Virgin Media sites and on installed equipment
- Be able to work on overhead and underfloor cabling, DDF/ODF works
Must have working knowledge of Infinera, Ciena and ECI equipment.
