Management Accountant – Construction & Facilities

Salary: £45,000 + Car Allowance
Location: Manchester or Birmingham
Our client, a leading provider of integrated facilities management and infrastructure solutions, is seeking a commercially astute Management Accountant to oversee the financial performance of a high-profile maintenance contract for Avanti West Coast.
This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone with a sharp eye for detail and a strong understanding of contract finance within the built environment.
You'll be working at the heart of a high-volume, fast-moving maintenance operation — managing thousands of work orders each month and ensuring costs are tracked, issues are identified early, and reporting is both accurate and actionable.
What we’re looking for:
- Proven experience as a Management Accountant, Commercial Analyst, or in a similar finance role
- Background in construction, facilities management, maintenance, or infrastructure services
- Strong budgeting, cost control, and forecasting capabilities
- High proficiency in Excel; experience with CAFM or financial systems desirable
- Strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with finance, operations, and commercial teams
Key responsibilities:
- Take ownership of contract-level financial reporting, including cost tracking, variance analysis, and forecasting
- Manage large volumes of financial data related to work orders, POs, and subcontractor invoices
- Prepare monthly reports, accruals, and cost value reconciliations (CVRs)
- Provide financial insight to operational teams to support decision-making and cost recovery
- Ensure accuracy in client billing, applications for payment, and audits
- Identify and implement improvements in financial processes and controls
