In-House Senior Employment Counsel | 8+ years' PQE | National Firm | Birmingham | Part-Time 22.5 -30 hours | Hybrid Working


BCL Legal are delighted to be working on a rare opportunity for a Senior Employment Solicitor (8+ years' PQE) to join a leading national legal and professional services firm as In-House Senior Employment Counsel. This is a newly created, strategic role offering part-time hours and genuine flexibility for the right candidate.


The Role
This position sits within the firm's newly established Group Legal Team, reporting directly to the Chief Legal Officer. As the firm's first dedicated in-house employment lawyer, you will take the lead on a wide range of employment-related matters and work closely with senior stakeholders across the business. You'll be involved in:


- Providing strategic advice on employment law, employee relations, and regulatory compliance
- Managing employment litigation and external legal counsel
- Supporting HR on disciplinaries, grievances, investigations, and terminations
- Drafting and reviewing employment contracts, settlement agreements, and internal policies
- Delivering training and legal updates to HR, managers, and executive leadership
- Advising on employment aspects of M&A activity and integration
- Proactively managing legal risk and supporting the firm's long-term people strategy


The successful candidate will join a collaborative and forward-thinking legal team, working alongside HR and gaining exposure to senior decision-makers across the business. The firm also offers support from a highly regarded client-facing employment team.


The Candidate
Qualified solicitor in England & Wales with a minimum of 8 years' PQE


- Significant experience in employment law, gained in private practice or in-house
- Comfortable advising on complex and sensitive employee relations matters
- Strong drafting skills and experience managing disputes, including litigation and mediation
- A proactive, commercial mindset and ability to work independently with senior stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, solutions-focused approach
