YOUR IMPACT
The Asset & Wealth Management Control Office is a recently established group in the Risk organization overseeing the division's key control design standards. The Risk division is responsible for credit, market and operational risk, model risk, independent liquidity risk, and insurance throughout the firm. Our primary objectives are to create the key control inventory and process-risk-control artefacts across the division, report on the health of the division's control landscape, and elevate controls to optimize our operating platform. This role ensures the effectiveness of controls supporting AWM's business activities, driving consistency, transparency and accountability across the division. This group comprises of six critical functions, including (1) Control Office Management, (2) Control Strategy, (3) Monitoring & Testing, (4) Firmwide Policy Oversight Group, (5) Regulatory Inventory Traceability, and (6) Issue Management.
We are looking for a highly motivated Associate to join the Control Strategy team with a focus on Non-Financial Risk (NFR). NFR refers to risks that do not stem from financial market movements but can impact an organization's operations, reputation or regulatory standing. These risks include - operational risk, conduct risk, regulatory risk, reputational risk, technology and cyber risk, third-party risk and environmental risk. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of risk management, governance frameworks, controls and regulatory requirements.
HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL
Risk & Control
- Develop an in-depth knowledge of the risk and control profile across Asset & Wealth Management
- Assist in designing and implementing control strategy to manage non-financial risk in a consistent manner across the division
- Prepare materials for governance forums, risk committees including reporting on the health of the division's control landscape
- Facilitate the implementation of controls technology to enhance the control framework
- Ability to rationalize controls and ensure alignment with the right risks and processes
- Design, develop and Implement Key Control Indicators (KCIs) to effectively monitor and assess the performance of key controls ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations and risk management framework
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of experience within a risk management context and a solid understanding of the Asset & Wealth Management franchise
- Proactive and detail-oriented, with strong analytical, lateral thinking and organizational skills
- Ability to navigate data sets, develop metrics and perform analysis
- Excellent communication skills to clearly articulate issues and ideas with different levels across Asset & Wealth Management stakeholders
- Innovative mindset with a sharp focus on identifying and implementing practical control enhancements and automation possibilities
- Effective influencing skills to challenging the status quo and continuously enhance the control environment
- Ability to document process / risk / control mapping
- Ability to perform data analytics using metrics to identify trends and themes
- Strong time management skills to effectively prioritize, multi-task and meet time-sensitive deadlines
