Job Title: Setting Out Engineer - Civil

Location: Nationwide site visits

Salary: Dependant on experience

Hours: Full time – Monday – Friday 9:00-17:00 (midweek and weekend overtime available)

About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Civil Setting Out Engineer to join our dynamic team in the infrastructure sector.

In this role, you will be responsible for setting out civil engineering works from planning to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will also collaborate with engineers, contractors and regulators to ensure alignment with technical specifications and industry standards while maintaining strong client relationships. A solid background in setting out, surveying, and civil engineering is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Setting out techniques – ability to use level & EDM, plus GPS
  • Able to report issues with control and information provided.
  • Read and interprets drawings and schedules.
  • Activity Control Plans and production of resultant information for handover file.
  • Strong understanding of construction tolerances.
  • Awareness and use of Specification and other Contract documents.
  • Produce detailed documentation for handover of completed works.
  • Supervising and overseeing construction activities.
  • Ensuring quality and compliance with specifications.
  • Managing site logistics and resolving technical issues.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 3-years previous Engineering experience.
  • Degree qualification in civil engineering or equivalent is desirable or proven relevant experience.
  • Holds a current driving license, PTS card & CSCS Card.
  • SSSTS
  • May be working towards Chartership/Incorporation with ICE or other appropriate professional body.
  • Familiar in Leica Survey equipment (GPS, Total Station, Optical & digital levels) for Setting Out & Survey
  • Extensive Experience in reinforced concrete structures, Piling, Earthworks & Retaining structures.
  • Awareness of commercial processes.
  • Familiar with Quality Management System and familiar in writing RAMS.
  • Proven people and project management skills.
  • Team leader with organisational skills.
  • Experience of working to high safety standards.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office – Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD & N4Ce
  • Flexibility to travel nationwide as required by our clients (Willingness to stay away from home where required due to project requirements)
