The Role:


The Student Support Team Manager will be engaged in performing a clearly defined range of front-facing customer service and administrative tasks alongside teaching responsibilities as required. The role holder will have excellent customer service, as well as teaching skills to enhance the experience of TLG for all students as well as internal and external stakeholders. The post holder will chair team meetings and any training required and work with a hands-on approach to ensure the centre runs smoothly and is fully compliant.

Responsibilities include :


  • Ensure the work of the Student Support team is focused, coherent and effective
  • Deal with student/visitor queries, conducting premises tours and referring to other members of staff where necessary.
  • To plan and lead Student Support Team meetings as and when necessary
  • Assist and welcome staff/students/visitors to the school
  • To keep up to date with any new initiatives or changes in legislation relevant to safeguarding and emotional health and well-being
  • Keep centre-specific information up to date: visitor guides, handbooks, welcome packs etc
  • Maintain accurate student records on the database
  • Monitor and record attendance from class registers and contact absent students as necessary as per company policy. Monitor student holidays.
  • Assist/manage the accuracy of information on the weekly starter lists, liaising with admissions team, business developers, recruiters, to identify and locate non-arrivals and late arrivals. Send new starters all necessary documentation.
  • Produce a varied monthly social programme. Ensure all activities follow safeguarding procedures, risk assessments and students/staff are informed.
  • Demonstrates consistent Student progression and achievement statistics
  • Submission and completion of regular tasks to be on time, done correctly and according to company policies where applicable
  • Compliance with UKVI/BC regulations
  • Behaves in line with TLG’s policies, rules and internal guidelines and demonstrates awareness of UKVI regulations
  • Ensure complaints are dealt with according to policy.
  • Hold the emergency phone on rota with other staff.
  • Ensure compliance to the visitor management policy. Ensure all guest speakers have been risk assessed for possibility of extremist views.
  • To provide advice and guidance to the Student Support Team


Role Requirements:


Essential:

  • A friendly, polite and helpful attitude in all social interactions
  • Personal flexibility and reliability
  • Good written and spoken English skills
  • Knowledge about admissions procedures
  • MS software packages, especially Excel
  • Good written/spoken ability in other languages (centre specific)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Resilient, empathetic, and culturally competent leadership style.
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Experience in customer service / administrative role


Desirable :


  • Significant experience in academic or student support within a further or higher education setting.
  • Experience in line management or team leadership roles.
  • Proven track record of using data to improve student retention, engagement, and outcomes.
  • Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds, including widening participation groups.
  • Experience in safeguarding and student wellbeing processes.
  • Experience in designing and delivering staff training or team development programmes.


Qualifications/ Education :


Essential

  • Knowledge of current UK GDPR legislation
  • Knowledge of current PREVENT legislation
  • Knowledge of current Safeguarding legislation


Desirable

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business, Social Sciences, or related field.
  • EnhancedDBS(transferrable)
  • SafeguardingLevel 1+2
  • First Aid Cert
