Key Duties & Responsibilities

As a hands-on role, you will be overseeing and supervising a skilled team of avionics technicians, providing guidance and leadership to ensure high standards are consistently met. By leading through example, you will actively promote a culture of safety, quality, and operational efficiency. In coordination with the B2 Engineer, you will support the planning and execution of daily tasks, helping to ensure the smooth and effective delivery of the production and modification program. As the primary point of contact for all avionic-related activities, you will monitor progress, ensure adherence to allocated task card hours and programme milestones, and keep your Line Manager informed of status updates, risks, and any emerging issues that may affect timelines or deliverables.

  • Wiring terminations and testing.
  • Removal and installation of various shelves, panels and equipment.
  • Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and deliver training for technicians, engineers, and operators.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on avionics modifications and upgrades.
  • Work with stakeholders to align avionics solutions with operational needs.
  • Track adherence to allocated task card hours for avionics maintenance and modifications.
  • Identify discrepancies between planned and actual hours, analysing root causes.
  • Escalate variations to stakeholders, including maintenance managers, planners, and finance teams.
  • Recommend process improvements to optimise efficiency and resource allocation.
  • Support data-driven decision-making for labour forecasting and project timelines.
  • Support avionics system testing, validation, and troubleshooting.
  • Provide mentorship to junior avionics personnel.

Skills And Abilities

  • Completed an engineering apprenticeship- ideally in Aeronautical engineering or military equivalent
  • Minimum of 8 years aircraft experience
  • Excellent knowledge of reading manufacturers drawings and SRMs
  • Previous aircraft production and/or modification experience
  • Previous supervisory/lead experience
  • Military aircraft experience preferred
  • Excellent knowledge of Avionics systems
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications
  • Eligible to work and live in the UK
  • Subject to UK security Vetting

  • Initial Human Factors; Continuation Training Human Factors
  • Initial SFAR phase 1&2; Continuation Training SFAR phase 1&2
  • Initial EWIS group 1&2 (including EWIS group 1 Module G; Continuation Training EWIS group 1&2
  • ETOPS
  • RVSM
