Machine Tool Application Engineer
£40,000 – £50,000 + company car
We’re recruiting for an Application Engineer to join a leading CNC machine tool business with a strong footprint in UK manufacturing. The company specialises in turnkey solutions, supplying high-performance CNC machine tools to drive precision, productivity, and efficiency. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on delivering machining systems for customers across sectors such as aerospace, power generation, automotive, medical, and more. You’ll be field based, with travel to customer sites predominantly in the midlands, but also across the UK as required. A full UK driving licence is essential.
The Role:
- Deliverer hands-on training to customers, ensuring operators are fully competent and confident in both the programming and safe operation of CNC machine tools.
- Take ownership of customer projects, managing them professionally from start to finish to meet technical specifications, deadlines, and budgets - while keeping clear and accurate documentation throughout.
- Log daily tasks and document all visit activity, including any issues identified on-site.
- Build and maintain strong technical knowledge of the full machine range, regularly attending training on new models and control systems to stay up to date.
- Travel across the UK and Ireland as required - some overnight stays during the week should be expected.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven Siemens programming experience - this is essential for the role.
- Experience with Fanuc or Heidenhain controls is highly beneficial.
- Hands-on knowledge of 5-axis machining centres or multi-tasking turning centres is a strong advantage.
- Familiarity with Fusion 360 is desirable.
- A solid engineering background, with at least 5 years’ experience in CNC turning and milling applications.
- A recognised engineering apprenticeship and relevant qualifications.
- Ideally based in the Midlands for travel and site access.
- Excellent communication skills and a professional, customer-focused approach.
The Opportunity:
Alongside a salary of £40–50k (depending on experience), the package includes a company car, 25 days of annual leave (plus bank holidays), life assurance, private healthcare, and access to a wider employee benefits scheme.
