Role Overview
The main purpose of the role is to provide high-quality, face-to-face IT support to students and staff on one of the GBS campuses.
This is a part-time role with the option to work 20 or 30 hours, covering evenings and weekends.
Key Responsibilities
- Raise, respond to, and complete IT tickets within the Service Management system, including:
- Assisting with computer hardware and software usage, printing, and ID card support.
- Providing technical support for audiovisual and IT equipment setup and movement.
- Configuring PCs/laptops with operating systems, software, and drivers.
- Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving issues or escalating as needed.
- Collaborating with team members on complex and routine computer issues.
- Providing one-on-one training on technology use.
- Supporting password and security-related issues.
- Following best practices for network and system security and privacy.
- Testing and evaluating new software and hardware.
- Maintaining records of equipment loans, repairs, and maintenance schedules.
- Guiding users on new software and hardware operations.
- Supporting administrative tasks such as printing, filing, and data collation.
- Serving as the first point of contact for error reporting and ticket creation.
- Traveling between campuses may be required to support departmental needs.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles (e.g., CompTIA Network+ and Security+).
- Experience installing operating systems, software, and managing computer networks.
- Experience providing remote and in-person IT support.
- Familiarity with service management systems and ITIL practices.
- Understanding of technical management, information analysis, and hardware/software systems.
- Knowledge of programming languages and Windows-based systems (MS Exchange, Active Directory).
- Experience with backup, recovery, and system performance monitoring.
- Ability to implement, configure, and test IT solutions.
