To enhance this training strategy, we are looking for a dynamic, forward-thinking Simulator Training Delivery Manager to join us at our Training and Development Centre based in Birmingham on a full-time basis.
This is an exciting opportunity to step into a high-impact role, overseeing the tactical planning and daily operations of our state-of-the-art Simulator Centre ensuring our suite of mobile and static simulators are optimised across the business.
If you're an experienced Simulator or Operations Trainer or Train Driver with a passion for learning and development and are keen to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our front-line teams whilst maintaining your driving competency, this role could be for you.
What will the role involve?
- Oversee the daily operations of WMT Simulator Centre and its satellite locations.
- Liaise with WMT simulator suppliers to ensure the effective reporting of simulator activity and prompt fault finding solutions.
- Spearhead the design and implementation of innovative simulator-based training and assessment initiatives aimed at enhancing the performance and professional growth of West Midlands Trains' frontline teams.
- Partner with key stakeholders to establish and drive strategies that maximise the use and effectiveness of the simulators.
- Collaborate with WMT managers to define annual business requirements for simulator activity including PQAs, CDPs, and Low adhesion sessions, delivering schedules to ensure these needs are met effectively.
- Provide specialist training in the use of static and mobile simulators for WMT colleagues, which support the evolving business objectives.
- Drive the continuous development of simulator usage in operational training programmes, implementing solutions which incorporate the full suite of simulators to optimise learning.
- Support the development and delivery of both safety and non-safety critical training initiatives.
- Implement robust evaluation and reporting processes to measure simulator activities effectiveness and outcomes.
What you need to demonstrate to be successful in the role:
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple business objectives in a dynamic environment.
- Proven experience working interdepartmentally to achieve organisational goals.
- Demonstrate success in stakeholder engagement and relationship management.
- Minimum of three years' operational experience as a qualified train driver.
- Proven success in delivering training programmes.
- Experienced in working with train simulators to deliver effective assessment solutions.
- Exceptional communication skills and strong organisational skills
- Self-motivated team player with a proactive and independent approach to work.
- Proficiency in office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
