This is more than a traditional operator role—you’ll be encouraged to take ownership of your work, think critically, and contribute to ongoing process improvement initiatives.You’ll operate and fine-tune our Benzinger CNC machines, working closely with the wider team to identify opportunities for optimisation, reduce waste, and deliver consistently high-quality results. Programming experience is beneficial, but training will be provided, and we're looking for someone excited to learn, develop, and innovate.What You’ll DoCNC Operation & Setup• Set up and operate CNC lathes and mills based on job specs.• Adjust offsets, tool lengths, and machine parameters to maintain precision and quality.• Load and verify CNC programs (G-code) for accuracy and efficiency.Programming & Optimisation• Modify or create basic CNC programs (training provided).• Collaborate on process improvements and share insights that streamline workflows and reduce material waste.Quality & Precision• Inspect components using precision measuring tools (calipers, gauges, micrometers).• Maintain tight tolerances and excellent surface finishes through in-process and final inspections.Maintenance & Problem-Solving• Perform routine machine maintenance.• Diagnose and resolve machine or programming issues.• Support continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies and suggesting practical solutions.Collaboration & Flexibility• Provide cover and support across the team during absence or high workload.• Work closely with consultants and colleagues to drive performance and innovation.What We’re Looking ForA proactive thinker and doer—someone who thrives on solving problems, improving processes, and making a real impact.Key Skills & Traits• Strong CNC machining experience (Benzinger knowledge a plus)• Comfortable with or eager to learn CNC programming• Analytical mindset with a knack for troubleshooting• Detail-focused with a drive for accuracy and excellence• Confident communicator and collaborative team player• Self-motivated and open to feedback and development• Passion for efficiency and process innovationQualifications• GCSE Maths & English (or equivalent)• CNC machining experience essential• Strong computer literacyWhy Join Us?• Salary - £40,000 - £45,000• 37.5 hours/week (07:15–15:15), on-site in Birmingham• 24 days holiday + 8 bank holidays (rising with service)• Holiday exchange scheme• Pension & life assurance• Profit-related bonus scheme• Healthcare & wellbeing support (GP appointments, EAP, BHSF cash plan)• Retail discounts, cycle-to-work, interest-free parking loans• Staff purchase scheme & eye care supportReady to Shape the Future?We’re not just hiring a CNC Operator—we’re looking for someone who wants to help shape how we do things.
