Data Solutions Architect - strong business & data focus

Salary up to £100,000 + 15% bonus

Remote / Hybrid - depending on proximity to an office

Data Solutions Architect needed to drive how this business does data architecture! We are looking for someone who can help them transform how they currently do things, transitioning from a reliance on super skilled technologists to hiring a Data Solutions Architect who has less deep technical experience but more breadth of experience across data, business and apps!

TOGAF certification (Level 2), and experience using TOGAF is essential.

The Job:

• Development and management of our tailored data architecture framework across architecture terminology, process and content


• Own the architecture repository for Data Architecture and the organisational “shop-window” for data architecture material


• Develop architecture visions, definitions, and roadmaps for the organisation’s data related programmes and projects


• Architect from business motivation and data principles into the bank’s architecture, ensuring compliance with regulation.


• Providing oversight to delivery regarding the Bank’s data flows and data technology.


• Define and implement data frameworks (e.g. to meet BCBS 239 standards).


• Develop programme roadmaps, ensuring alignment with business processes and regulatory expectations.


• Document and standardize architecture processes that are compliant with regulation and best practice, creating reusable templates and models for the organization.


• Lead technical aspects of data initiatives to ensure that they take account of relevant technical strategies, policies, standards and practices and that they are compatible with existing and planned systems and IT infrastructure, standards calling out exceptions, exemptions and risks where appropriate.


• Work closely with the extended Data leadership team, support the development of business cases to demonstrate the power of the data strategy, leading to a data centric business culture.


• Work closely with Technology Design functions to understand and apply the IT strategy, principles, standards and architectural roadmaps to programmes of work.


• Monitor the development of our data architecture, identifying risks, and developing mitigation plans ensuring we stay current, supportable and maintainable.


• Evaluate and manage relationships with vendors and service providers.


• Contribute to the development of disaster recovery plans to ensure the availability and integrity of the organization’s data assets.

The Person:

• TOGAF certification (Level 2), and experience using TOGAF is essential.


• Experience in architecting solutions that have significant data aspects / considerations, especially in banking and financial services environments.


• Ability to design and document a robust data architecture that aligns with regulatory requirements.


• Experience developing architectural artifacts and documentation for regulatory frameworks.


• Strong stakeholder and interpersonal skills.


• Ability to turn complex information into simple succinct readily understandable reports or summaries highlighting key aspects of data technology design and solutions


• Experience of large-scale Data Solutions, Products and Platforms, including cloud-based data platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure services.


• An understanding of business drivers and providing genuine business valued output & analysis and works as a ‘thought leader’ with the business and interact to form a ‘business partnership’ with other professionals.


• Experience with Architecture repository tools, with the ability to articulate strengths and weaknesses
