Mainframe Applications Engineer

Summary:

As a Software Applications Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining custom applications, offering technical support, and ensuring seamless integration with front-end systems, networks, and databases. You will evaluate, modify, test, and implement software solutions to meet defined business needs while contributing to the improvement of application standards and system efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide Software Application Engineering support for large-scale and complex software applications.


• Perform build and deployment activities for application development projects.


• Design and implement effective, timely solutions that comply with project standards.


• Configure, program, and test application components and technical architecture.


• Identify and resolve defects and performance issues.


• Ensure service commitments are met for in-scope development work.


• Review design, coding, and unit testing to maintain project compliance standards.


• Collaborate with the Business Analyst (BA) team to understand requirements and use cases.


• Estimate development efforts by sizing use cases with BA team input.


• Independently deploy QAT and UAT environments.


• Work closely with the testing team to identify and resolve both existing and new issues, including regression defects.


• Use Decision Analysis and Resolution (DAR) techniques to select optimal solutions.


• Participate in code reviews and collaborate with developers, designers, and architects.


• Ensure the integrity of pre-production environments, including development, testing, QA, and staging.


• Lead initiatives in process improvement and technical automation.


• Provide regular status updates to the project lead or manager.


• Support and mentor junior team members with training and upskilling tasks.
