About the Role


We are looking for an experienced and skilled Senior CNC Operator to join our Wedding Ring Cell Team. This role is responsible for Benzinger CNC machines in the department. Training will be provided but experience of programming and basic maintenance is required.


We seek a detail-oriented individual with excellent communication, problem-solving, and time management skills, as well as experience in the jewellery industry. The ideal candidate will work efficiently, collaborate with colleagues, and have a positive attitude with a drive for continuous improvement.


Role Responsibilities


Machine Setup and Operation



  • Set up CNC machines (lathes, mills, or routers) according to job specifications.

  • Adjust offsets and tool lengths manually or using software.

  • Load programs (G-code) and verify accuracy before running.


Programming (training provided)


  • Modify or create simple CNC programs (on the machine).

Material and Tool Management



  • Select and load appropriate tools and materials.

  • Monitor tool wear and change tools when necessary.


Quality Control



  • Use measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to inspect parts.

  • Ensure components meet tight tolerances and finish requirements.

  • Perform first-off and in-process inspection checks.

  • Metal balancing of swarf.


Troubleshooting



  • Detect and correct machine or program errors.

  • Work with consultants to optimise machine performance and minimise metal losses.


Provide cover and support to the wider team during absences/holidays.

Qualifications and Education



  • Strong computer skills to operate the Benzinger programming system.

  • GCSE English sufficient to read the production tickets and sales orders.

  • GCSE maths sufficient to understand volumes and measurements.

  • CNC experience essential, ideally with programming knowledge.


Location


  • Salary from £35,000.

Working Hours



  • 37.5 hours per week, 07:15 am – 15:15 pm.
    Please be aware that this role is based on site in Birmingham.

  • 24 days per annum, plus 8 bank holidays (increasing incrementally by 1 day at 3, 6 & 9 years’ service to a total of 27 days).
