Senior Mechanical Engineer - Building Services

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer required for an established Building Services Contractor based in Birmingham.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for the production of design information/drawings for various projects, along with attending design meetings and undertaking site surveys to assist the Project Managers with the successful delivery of multiple projects nationwide across the commercial, leisure, education, and public sectors, ranging in value from £100k to £2M.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

• Involvement in pre-construction activities including pre-start validation and site surveys.
• Management of the entire design process, whether from Stage 3 to Stage 5 (and beyond) or from inception to Stage 4c (or through construction, depending on project).
• Balance timescales, client/contractor budgets, specification-requirements and buildability to develop compliant design solutions.
• Working closely with the Client Team, Specialists and Project Manager(s) to ensure the design is developed to a suitable level at each stage to enable works to commence on site.
• Manage the commercial success of any design-only projects.
• Involvement in the production of handover documentation (O&M’s, As Fitted Drawings, Commissioning Certification etc).
• Act as mentor to junior design engineers.
